The Medicinal Forest Garden Handbook

The Medicinal Forest Garden Handbook

Out now, this book is full of suggestions about growing and harvesting medicinal trees and shrubs in a sustainable way. Based on permaculture principles there is advice on design, establishing and propagating plants as well as help on storing herbs and making herbal remedies. There are detailed profiles on 40 medicinal trees and shrubs, from native species to introduced ornamentals.

Produced by Permanent Publications, the book is beautifully illustrated and fully referenced throughout. We have had such brilliant feedback from many quarters – thanks so much to everyone for the encouragement. The book is available from the publishers and from good booksellers. Or you can get a copy direct from us at Holt Wood Herbs – let us know if you would like your copy signed by the author! More at …

Coronavirus Epidemic

Stay safe everyone, and only travel if really necessary. We do not want to disappoint anyone but are aware that uncertainty means that some are finding difficulty in making travel and accommodation arrangements for our courses. So we have cancelled some courses, although we still plan to run a Medicinal Forest Garden day course and a weekend course in July 2020. We are taking some steps for safety to counter any threat of infection on our courses. Each course is based outdoors and we have small groups so can enable wide spacing and social distancing as needed. Areas under frequent use such as door and tool handles and other surfaces are wiped down on a daily basis. Hand sanitiser will be available as well as disposable gloves and tissues for practical activities. Handwashing facilities are available although limited to cold water and soap. Course handouts will be available printed on paper but can be provided electronically on request. Course members will be advised to bring their own mug for drinks. Do get in touch if you have queries about the courses at info@holtwoodherbs.com
