The Medicinal Forest Garden Trust will have a stall at this event at RHS Rosemoor Gardens, near Great Torrington, North Devon, EX38 8PH. This event at the RHS Rosemoor Gardens will host displays, talks and walks aimed at ‘Introducing people to living off the land, treading more quietly and understanding more about nature’. We will have information about the Medicinal Forest Garden Trust, a bark quiz, information about medicinal trees and shrubs, some cards and plants for sale, as well as Holt Wood Herbs soaps and body care items.

In December 2016, Anne talked to Daniel Tyrkiel about permaculture and the Holt Wood project. She spoke of how Holt Wood was transformed from a conifer plantation to a diverse forest garden where medicinal trees and shrubs can be sustainably cultivated and harvested. Medicinal Forest Garden Trust offers herbal harvest

Harvesting Cramp Bark

The Medicinal Forest Garden Trust invites herbal practitioners to come along to Holt Wood in North Devon and harvest medicinal plants. Herbal practitioners are welcome to join together and harvest some really useful plants for free. We will be cutting several year old stems from White Willow (Salix alba) pollards, also coppiced Cramp Bark (Viburnum opulus). There will be other plants too, fresh nettle (Urtica dioica), leafy twigs of Silver Birch (Betula pendula). Places limited so must be booked in advance.  More…

Updating of the Holt Wood Herbs website means that we now have a page for the Medicinal Forest Garden Trust and we have added information sheets about medicinal trees, including Ginkgo (Ginkgo biloba) and Witch Hazel (Hamamelis virginiana). It is a slow process, finding time to compile more information but we plan to add more tree informations sheets when possible. A new medicinal tree information sheet has been added for Prickly Ash (Zanthoxylum americanum) to the website section on medicinal trees and shrubs. More…

Roll On Witch Hazel and Rosemary Deodorant

After a few gremlins, our online shop should be working – but please let us know if you spot any problems. We have added more navigation aids including an ‘All products’ listing. We have had some great feedback about the  Witch Hazel and Rosemary Deodorant spray. Our latest try out is a roll on version of the Witch Hazel and Rosemary Deodorant spray, and do get in touch if you would be interested to try this!

Next Holt Wood Open Afternoon

Saturday 6 May 2017, 2-4 pm

Join us for an afternoon and find out about how Holt Wood works to produce medicinal tree and shrub supplies. All welcome to this open afternoon includes a walkabout to see what is growing and you can hear how the wood is progressing.
