Making body care products
There is a bit of heaven in making body care products for Holt Wood Herbs. Lots are needed for our table at the forthcoming Toby Buckland Garden Festival at Powderham Castle in Devon on Friday 28 and Saturday 29 April 2017. Our house smells fantastic! Aromas of flowers, herbs and spices everywhere!
Eau de Cologne Splash
One of my earliest gift items for friends and family, was an Eau de Cologne Splash which I first recorded making in September 1996, over 20 years ago. It has gorgeous (and expensive) Neroli essential oil, our Rosemary as well as Orange Flower water, making a delicate citrusy aroma, makes me want to splash it around everywhere. The mix of components derives from a nineteenth-century recipe book, which recommends huge quantities and I have scaled this down to a handmade artisan level. The magic ingredient (apart from the Neroli) seems to be crushed Cardamom seed, one of my all-time favourite spices.
New forest garden body care labels
So it seems appropriate that we have redesigned all of our product labels to try and capture the essences of the body care products developed with Holt Wood Herbs. I say ‘we’ but really all of the credit goes to Kay who has been working away at the computer with her wonderful photographs. She has also been around and about photographing wild water birds and producing new art cards. So, if you want to try the Eau de Cologne Splash or if you like pictures of ducks come and see us at the Garden Festival! We will be inside Powderham Castle selling products in aid of the Medicinal Forest Garden Trust.
